chapter fifteen 285
Although faith is instinctive in everyone, most people, due to mental limitation, are not aware of its power and effectiveness. As you watch your mind, you realize how your faith waivers. Sometimes when you pray and meditate, there is a serene faith; yet at other times when you pray, half your mind is running wild with anxiety. You are praying and at the same time your mind is lled with fear.
It is like the predicament of a child who imagines that there in the corner of his room sits a ghost. Although he holds a ashlight in his hand, he is too afraid to turn it on and see if anything is really there in the corner. Prayer and faith are like that ashlight. Knowing that you have a light in your hand, you should not allow any form of dif dence or fear to exist in any corner of your heart.
When trains rst started to run in the villages of India, the villagers entered the train but kept their baggage upon their heads, not understanding that the train would carry the baggage as well as themselves. It took time to introduce them to the fact that the train was carrying everything. Some quickly learned to relax and enjoyed their journey. By the time the others reached their destination, they were exhausted and stressed. Similarly, as you travel through your life in the mighty Divine vehicle of this earth planet, make it your project to discover, strengthen, and enjoy your faith and trust in God.
