God’s beauty, glory, power and majesty, and you must feel that you are serving God in all that you think and do.
Religion is not a matter of a sentimental belief, a verbal confession, or an intellectual af rmation. True religion requires that your total being be completely immersed in the love of God. When God is loved in this way, there is no one else to love. God alone has become your reality.
As a spiritual aspirant, you may at times experience intense surges of higher sentiments, and become overwhelmed by a wonderful feeling that God alone is and that you love Him perfectly. You may even shed tears as these feelings swell within your heart. Although these sentiments are indeed very good, the moment they evaporate you may nd that your mind is unable to even think of God or love Him at all. When a feeling that you thought was a deep and abiding devotion becomes a wave of sentiment that passes on, this indicates that your personality has not reached a state of full integration.
Similarly, at times your intellect may achieve a state of clarity, and you may profoundly feel that you understand that all is God—that Brahman alone is. However, soon the clouds of confused sentiments block your vision and you nd that your clarity of reason has been lost.
