Devotion or love of God predominates in the teachings of Lord Jesus as well as in many Yogic teachings. In the Vedic scriptures the various Yogas are described, but Bhakti, the practice of devotion, is always given a prominent role because the quali cations are simple: Anyone can kindle love in their heart.
Love is innately present within every individual. Everyone is aware of it, no matter how limited it may be. Therefore, that love can be directed towards God. In the Gita, many different paths are described, but devotion is highlighted.
Love of God should not be shallow. That love should ow like a pure and powerful stream, deep within your heart. Reading the Bible and reciting its prayers and commandments is good, but that is not enough. You have to love the Lord with all your heart, from the very core of your feelings, by integrating all your sentiments and transforming them into Divine Love.
Everyone seeks to love and to be loved, but the perfect object of love and the perfect source of love can never be found in this world. It is by loving God and recognizing the mystical fact that you are ever loved by God that the sentiment of love nds its only real ful llment.
