Glider Pilot Ground School - for Power Pilots

COST: $50.00 payable to the museum

FACILITATOR: John Toles, CFI Saskatoon Soaring Club, GPL, PPL and aircraft owner (C-172)
Objectives:
• General interest to pilots for understanding of soaring and glider operations
• Meet the minimum 5 hr ground school requirement for pilots holding PPL or higher for a Glider Pilot License
• Application pending for attendees to meet the 2 year currency requirement (rust remover)
Content:
• General information on gliding and soaring and the Saskatoon Soaring Club
• Air law and rules specific to gliding, including licensing requirements for GPL
• opportunities for power pilots as towpilots and soaring club members
• Meteorology for gliding and soaring
• Human factors related to gliding and soaring.
• Glider operations theory involving winch and aerotow launches, circuits and landing, using atmospheric
Energy to stay aloft in a glider and longer (cross country) glider flights.
