KEYSTAGE 1 – 3
        Programme Of Study

        ENGLISH
Students will be taught to communicate effectively, speak with
confidence, listen with growing attention and concentration and extend
their vocabulary. They will be taught to read and write with fluency,
accuracy, understanding and enjoyment. English is vital for
communicating with others in school and in the wider world, and is
fundamental to learning in all curriculum subjects.
In studying English, students develop skills in speaking, listening, reading
and writing that they will communicate with others confidently and
        effectively.

We teach a love of reading across all phases of school and this begins
by choosing high quality, engaging texts that inspire and ignite the
        children’s imagination.

In Primary, RWInc and Fresh Start support the teaching of children’s
phonic knowledge, reading and writing and in Key Stage 3, Accelerated
Reader is offered as part of our reading curriculum.

Across the school children are encouraged to read for pleasure and the
reading curriculum is enriched by reading competitions, visits by authors
        and International Celebrations of Reading.

        MATHEMATICS
Mathematics is an integral part of our lives and our aim is to provide our
students with the opportunity to develop their understanding of
mathematical concept, in a creative and applicable way.We have
adopted the changes in the New National Curriculum and have
designed our lessons to incorporate the mastery of specific skills. As a
result, our curriculum coverage comprises of delivering Mathematics
through a model that involves reflection, reasoning and a deeper
understanding of methodology. The aim is for students to become
confident at using efficient mathematical processes and to use these to
solve logical problems through exploration. We follow the new guidelines
        that suggest:
