As always, CANTO continues to advocate on behalf of its members in the industry by promoting our message and maintaining relationships with all stakeholders. All engagements by Directors and Secretariat seek to advance the CANTO brand and expand our existing network.
3. Service to Members
• Membership Visits
Several visits to members in Trinidad ensured excellent visibility by Trinidad based existing and prospective members during the CANTO 2019 Annual Conference. Visits were also made to Ministers of Government, Tech Companies and other leads in Trinidad. The Secretary General also resumed external visits.
• Engagement
In 2019, the Secretariat continued its drive to improve our value proposition and re-engage members to be more active in the work of the association through liaising and visits to members, conducting surveys, evaluating events and strengthening relationships.
• Representation at US Caribbean Business Forum-Miami, Florida
On the invitation of the US Department of State, the Secretary General attended and presented on “Infrastructure in the Caribbean – Opportunities” on June 5th 2019. The Conference was put on by the US Department of Commerce and geared towards all Sectors. The panel was shared with the IADB, IATA, the Utility Association of the Americas.
• Visit to Cuba – Also in June the Secretariat visited Cuba to meet with the Executive of ETECSA in preparation for this AGM.
• Leadership
CANTO continues to be the leading authority in shaping Information and Communication Technologies in the region.
