P. 16

  • Emerge Americas - Miami
In April 2019 our former Service Development Manager and our Sales Assistant attended this event with the objective of recruiting and securing attendees and exhibitors for CANTO 2019.
• International Institute of Communications - Miami
The Secretariat secured a speaking position for Director Sutherland to attend this forum in May 2019 and present on the topic “Key considerations and questions for spectrum management, satellite, terrestrial and broadcasting services”. Director Sutherland also represented CANTO at this event last year, assisted in marketing the conference to delegates and was instrumental in recruiting a speaker from Facebook whom she met at the 2018 event.
• Final CITEL Meeting – Canada
Director Sutherland also represented CANTO at the final CITEL meeting, in Canada, from August 12-16, 2019 in preparation for the WRC-19 Conference in Geneva in November 2019. CANTO through the Regulatory Committee was actively involved, along with the CTU, in influencing the outcome of WRC-15 and we are intending to do so for WRC-19, which is a major item on the Regulatory Committee Workplan for 2019. The World Radio Conferences determines for up to ten (10) years, inter alia, the spectrum that will be made available for mobile services that as a region we are most dependent on for our communications. Our attendance at the final meeting and our participation at this meeting will help to increase the awareness of the CANTO brand and our work for our stakeholders.
4. Strategic Partnerships and Alliances
In 2019, CANTO continued to work closely with Internet Society, ICANN, LACNIC, ECLAC and CDEMA to promote and increase awareness on common projects and continued the educational partnership with LAUREATE to provide members with educational opportunities from more than 70 accredited universities at discounted rates.
