• CDEMA continues to be part of the DRM committee, providing useful insights into the work of the Committee and taking the lead in the execution of the annual simulation exercise. They participated in CANTO 2019. The Secretariat is also in discussions with CDEMA to sign of a MOU via the recommendations of the DRM Committee.
• CaribbeanAssociation of Investment PromotionAgencies (CAIPA)
The Secretariat has been working with CAIPA to develop a relationship in getting other industries involved (especially the banking and financial services industry) in CANTO. In addition, a strategic relationship with Investment Agencies will auger well for CANTO and attract several micro entrepreneurs to come to CANTO with the hope of meeting investors and networking with the banking industry. CANTO’s former Service Development Manager, Ms Tricia Balthazar signed a MoU, on the Secretariat’s behalf, with CAIPA at their forum in Curacao last year.
5. 35th Annual General Meeting co-hosted by GTT, Guyana
CANTO and GTT successfully co-hosted CANTO’s 35th Annual General Meeting (AGM) & Mini Expo at the Courtyard Marriott, Guyana from 27th - 30th January. The event was held under the theme “Transitioning to a Digital Region – Opportunities and Challenges”.
The four-day event focused on the AGM proceedings of CANTO and included sessions such as:
- Regulating in a changing technological landscape
- AI, Payments and Fraud Management in the Digital Age - Digital Telco: Creating Value with Technology
The event scored a seventy four percent (74%) stakeholder satisfaction, sanctioning the Secretariats efforts to increase stakeholder satisfaction and enhance the association’s products and services.
