National Recognition Days:
Carole Robertson Memorial Day
Carole Robertson Memorial Day is observed and celebrated by the Dallas Chapter Annually and in
conjunction with the Jack and Jill Family Day Picnic. This year we hosted this event on September
15, 2019 at Winfrey Clubhouse in Dallas, TX at 2pm. A tribute to Carole Robertson was held with
participation from each grade group. The children presented and discussed the tragic events of
Carole’s death and its impact on the civil right movement. Key historical facts were shared with the
group as well as the requested video from the national office was viewed.
The event reminded all of the sacrifices made our freedoms and provided a historical review of the
significance of Carole’s death.
Jack and Jill Family Picnic
The Dallas Chapter celebrated our Jack and Jill Picnic in Conjunction with Carole Robertson
Memorial Day on September 15, 2019 from 2:00 – 6:00 PM. The location was Winfrey Park
Clubhouse.
The family day picnic included a day of fun and celebration for the entire Jack and Jill family. Music,
food, games, and football captured the attention of all who attend. A Kona Ice truck were on site for
event. The sprawling grounds allowed for many activities for all grade groups and a host of lawn
games. There was also a visit from the Perot Museum Tech truck where all grades participated in
Stem activities. Within the clubhouse fathers also had the opportunity to gather together and root for
their favorite NFL team.
The picnic allowed the Jack and Jill family to gather and socialize as we prepared for the upcoming
year.
