Zeppelin Bend
A SECURE KNOT FOR JOINING TWO LINES TOGETHER
THAT CAN BE LOADED BEFORE IT IS TIGHTENED
The zeppelin bend (or Rosendahl’s knot) can be loaded
before the knot is tightened because it will form into its
proper shape and function when loaded. This can be a great
advantage should a boat being moored drift away before
the knot is finished. As with many knots, there is more than
one way to tie a zeppelin bend. This method is old and
considered by many to be easier. This knot can also be used
by campers or by anyone wishing to bend two ropes.
