Tie a half hitch (see page 22) in the nearest line
                    so  that  it  encloses  the  second  line,  as  shown  in

                    the photograph.




                   This knot was used by the US Navy until 1962 to tether its
                lighter-than-air  ships  (zeppelins).  Lieutenant  Commander

                Charles Rosendahl, skipper of the zeppelin Los Angeles and
                an American aeronautical hero, reportedly allowed only one

                bend to be used on his airship and on his mooring lines, the
                zeppelin bend, thus its other name.
