Bring the loop around and through a third time.
Lay the wraps of loop evenly and without twists
to maximize the bite on the rope. Tighten the
knot against the rope. Test the knot, and if it
slips, add more wraps.
Round Turn and Two Half Hitches
A VARIATION OF TWO HALF HITCHES THAT CREATES A
KNOT OF UNPARALLELED STRENGTH
Not only strong and dependable, this knot, when tied
correctly, never jams. Because weight applied to the
standing part pulls the rope in a straight line, the breaking
strength is not diminished by the round turn and two half
hitches. It is useful for securing one end of a rope when the
other end will be used to fasten down bulky objects. You will
find this knot useful in camping and boating as well as
climbing.
