to our trustees
ur Trustees at SIUMC have the responsibility of keeping our church property
Ofunctioning properly by completing repairs, maintaining our campus and joy to the world
facilities and keeping the buildings secure. This 12-member group is very committed December 15th 4:00 pm
and has stayed very busy this year with projects. Here are a few highlights of what arolers of all ages are
our Trustees have completed in 2019:
Cinvited to join us as we
share the Christmas spirit
- Continue to review security system, add additional magnetically secured
exterior doors, and work to ensure optimal safety for members, staff and visitors. with others! We will travel
by church bus to visit several
- Exterior door locks have been rekeyed with a minimum number of keys church members in their
distributed. homes and also to the Oaks.
- Purchased 100 new upholstered chairs for classrooms, library and parlor.
- Professionally cleaned carpets in Main Sanctuary.
- Painted and repaired all exterior black light fixtures
and painted yellow safety stipes on all exterior steps.

- Replaced and repaired hardware on several exterior doors. groups
- Coordinated with The Marshes about golf cart access on our campus.
- Redesigned and repurposed the Parlor.
Al-Anon:
- Designed and built an enclosed garage for supplies. Mondays
- Developed an ingenious way to remove the carpenter bees by Giddens Chapel. 4:00 pm
Church Library
- Ordered new windows to be built for Bailey Hall and installed early 2020.
- Developing a plan to add a basketball hoop, volleyball net, gaming area for AA:
Youth in Bailey Hall. Mondays - Saturdays
7:30 am
- Installed a new sound board for Main Sanctuary. Spiritual Growth Room
- Power washed church, playground and garage.
- Sold the large church bus. Stroke Survivors:
December 19th
- Working on plans for deposits and requirements for groups using kitchen and 4:00 pm
other rooms to ensure that space is left clean and organized. Messiah Lutheran
All of these special projects have been completed in addition to regular
maintenance items including HVAC issues, repairs and replacement of older units;
electrical work including replacing breakers, lights and installing new receptacles; Low Vision Group:
reviewing insurance coverage and needs; regular organ maintenance; overseeing December 11th
all our landscaping maintenance and new plantings; and continued work on the 10:00 am
Memorial Garden to create a welcoming and reflective space. Library
