METHOD 624/1624 - PURGEABLE ORGANICS
Method 624 is applicable to the determination of purgeable organics in industrial and municipal wastewater discharge as provided under 40
CFR 136.1, by purge and trap gas chromatography, and detection by a mass spectrometer.

Method 1624 is designed to determine the volatile toxic organic pollutants associated with the 1976 Consent Decree, and additional compounds
amenable to purge and trap gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS). In Method 1624 quantitative analysis is performed by GC/
MS using extracted ion current profile (EICP) areas. Isotope dilution is used when labeled compounds are available; otherwise, an internal or EPA 600
          external standard method is used.
