Page 3 - 2016 SAR Annual Report
P. 3
Dear Friends,
On behalf of Southern Adirondack REALTORS , congratulations on a record year of pro-
®
tecting the American Dream and making home ownership a reality! I'm happy to report that
what is most special about the Adirondacks has not changed. The loons that used to be rare
are now common. Unlike the rest of the world, the Adirondacks have changed for the better.
I feel proud to join each of you as we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the "REALTOR "
®
trademark. Adopted to identify the members of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF
REALTORS : a revolutionary group of individuals deeply committed to integrity,
®
community, and property ownership. Although times & technology have changed, 100 years
later, these goals remain the same. I'm honored to be a member of this association that involves cooperative competition unlike
any other industry I know. Since January 1st, together we've helped make home ownership a reality for 1,381 families; up from
1,191 just one year ago! Thank you and congratulations.
The role of serving as your President has been rewarding and more involved than I had imagined! I feel fortunate to have had
such a dedicated group serving on the Board of Directors and as Committee Chairs, and it's truly a rewarding experience to be at
the helm of such a well oiled machine. I've learned that no matter how busy my fellow REALTORS are with listings & sales,
®
family & life, involvement in your own towns, the truly successful ones always seem to be able to give just a little more; to our
association and to everyone they do business with. Not only do you manage to do what's expected of you, you do a little
extra. With the strength of our affiliate members it's that "and then some" approach that keeps the REALTOR pride going
®
strong and sets our industry apart from the rest. Thank you for joining us this year in celebrating our history, our future, and
our REALTORS . Thank you.
®
I am honored to highlight just a few of our accomplishments this past year which include:
Record attendance by SAR members at NYSAR’s Mid-Winter, Lobby Day and Fall Meetings
The very well received rework of our SAR New Member Orientations held now at our Association office.
Securing the northern half of Washington County into our NAR approved territory after the Washington
County Board of Realtors dissolved in December 2015.
Celebration of our YRN (Young REALTORS Network) one-year anniversary
®
Hosting of our first REALTOR Trade Show to spotlight our growing Affiliate Membership
®
Finalization of our official name changes and new corporate logos for the Association and MLS to better
represent our Southern Adirondack Region and membership.
When you see the members who serve as a director, a committee chair or committee member– please be sure to say “thanks”!
It is through their combined determination, effort and giving of their time that these things happen. We can always use fresh
ideas and new blood, so if you are not already, please consider joining a committee. When asked for a recommendation of some-
one to assist in the process of buying or selling Real Estate, please refer to our 50+ member affiliate base! They are the best in
the biz, and over half of them are here today to meet and talk with you.
It’s exciting to turn the reins over to our incoming President Eden Whitaker, and 2017 President-Elect Sean Rogge. If you
haven’t already, be sure to LIKE our FACEBOOK page, and make your contribution to RPAC before year end. I look forward to
seeing you all at the Holiday Gala on December 9th.
Cheers to a safe & successful Fall,
Angie Mead
Southern Adirondack REALTORS President
