On-Set/Commercial Rates
Working under a production company on set for TV or film is very different from freelance rates. These are charged based on half day vs full day rates, rather than by the client.
BEGINNER
HALF DAY > 5 HRS $150-300
SENIOR
HALF DAY > 5 HRS $300-500
If you are charging a half day and the gig goes over the 5 hour mark, they will instead pay you your full day rate and not OT after 5 hrs. To determine a fair half day rate we base it on 75% of your full day rate regardless of your level.
BEGINNER
FULL DAY (10+ HOURS) $400-500
SENIOR
FULL DAY (10+ HOURS) $750-1000+
For a senior and more advanced artist day rates can run up to $1000 for a 10+1 depending on the client. Plus $50/$75 a day for kit fee, to compensate you for products used.
OVERTIME
Overtime after 11 hrs. OT of 1.5hrs is based on your hourly rate which is determined by dividing 11 into your full day rate, divide that in half and add your hourly rate to that. For example if your day rate is $500 your hourly rate would be $45.45 but your OT after 11 is $68.17.
