Step 2: Soil Testing/Field Prep
Our second step in the process consists of soil testing every field on the farm, creating management zones by soil types, understanding that different soil types are treated differently with fertilizer, lime, gypsum, and other nutrients. It is from this “base”soil test that we have a starting point for the farm, and know what type of work will have to be done to bring the soil up to it’s most productive level. It is at this time that we also create a farm portfolio, where we start to build a work-history on

adds an unbelievable amount of value for your farm, and something that you could use in the event of a sale to push a premium over standard market price.
We also utilize this time to bring our dirt work equipment in, fixing blown-out terraces, cleaning up field edges, removing unneeded fence lines, widening field entrances if needed, and doing any other work that is necessary to prepare the farm for planting. We often hear from landowners talking about how impressed and completely blown away they are at how their ground looks after our skilled dirt work crew has gone in and cleaned up the farm.
