ABOUT THE AUTHOR
"I was that kid who played outside until my parents called me in for dinner. I loved being active and enjoyed playing every sport, but there was just something special about baseball. I knew early on it was my true passion, and that the game could potentially take me on the journey of my dreams.
I set my mind on becoming my best self, to give myself a fair shot at those dreams. Through trial and error, I found my path to the Big Leagues.
Even though I had talent, I knew I had to do more than just spend time hitting and lifting. I needed to seek other tools to aid in my advancement. I’m a bit of a perfectionist, so I became obsessed with learning ways to improve my game and my life. It started with nutrition, then functional physical training specific to baseball, and finally mental training. If it could help me get to the next level, I was all in.
One of my college coaches told me “days off lead to off days.” I took that to heart and made sure not to take any chances with my future. I grinded, even when it felt impossible, and trust me when you get hit by as many pitches as I did, some days felt unbearable.
I feel blessed now to say I’m a 7 year veteran of Major League Baseball. It’s something I am very proud of. Upon reflection, I wouldn’t have done anything different. I'm satisfied with the fact that I know I gave everything I had to make it, and there was nothing more left to give. I left my blood, sweat, and tears out on that diamond every single day and earned everything I was able to achieve.
Today I’m better for it. I’m grateful for the demotions and the promotions. I’m grateful for the strike outs and the home runs, for the hits I got robbed of and the ones that blooped in. I’m grateful for the losses and the wins, the struggles and the triumphs, the successes and failures. I’m grateful for the joy and the tears, and for the beginning and the end. I’m grateful for all of that because now I have the experience and knowledge to pass onto you.”
