With the corruption of Warren G. Harding (Conservative, Republican),
John Calvin Coolidge Jr. (Conservative, Republican) and Herbert
Hoover (Conservative, Republican), despite a “roaring” start to the
1920s, the United States was not able to sustain the roar. By October of
1929, the stock market crashed. A worldwide depression ensued leading
to what is known as the Great Depression. Between 1929 and 1933,
nearly 25 percent unemployment was experienced in the United States.
Nearly every industry, especially in manufacturing, had reached a point
where in their output had been reduced to one-third.
Fortunately, Franklin Delano Roosevelt Sr., A (Liberal)
Democrat, he won a record four presidential elections and reflecting on
Roosevelt's presidency, "which brought the United States through the
Great Depression and World War II to a prosperous future, "He lifted
himself from a wheelchair to lift the nation from its knees." The United
States is now the Most Powerful and one of the richest Countries in the
entire world.
