Here are some important
things to remember.
Be curious and inclusive during your growth.
Curiosity is core to meaningful growth, but when we
are curious together we can achieve so much more.
Being inclusive means including perspectives that
you wouldn’t normally as you learn and create a
better path forward.
Be open and seek support across the organization.
Our organization is big, but it is committed and
intelligent. The breadth of Varian people gives all of
us the fortune of having access to a lot of talented
support. No one should be expected to grow alone,
or feel like they have to.
Increase accountability through two-way feedback.
Feedback is a gift, not a weapon. When we seek
feedback as often as we give it, our culture, growth,
and value is so much more impactful. At Varian we
view feedback as an input into meaningful develop-
ment, not a way to criticize.
Be creative and proactive in how you learn.
Creativity is something we talk about when it comes
to innovation, but you should strive to apply the
same creativity to how you, and those around you,
learn. Learning doesn’t need to be prescriptive and
there are lots of ways to do it.
