WHAT WE DO
REFUGE & SAFE HOUSES
Teach Tearmainn has 4 self-contained refuge units which accommodate 4 families who are fleeing their homes as a result of domestic violence and abuse. Opened in 2014, Teach Tearmainn’s refuge provide 24/ 7 short-term crisis refuge accommodation to women and children. Teach Tearmainn opened 2 safe houses in the community in 2023. These houses provide short term accommodation in the community whilst also providing support around domestic abuse.
In 2020, Teach Tearmainn received funding from Safe Ireland to help us build a fun and exciting playground in our refuge. This playpark gives the children in our refuge a fun place to play during their stay with us.
CHILDREN’S SUPPORT SERVICES
Teach Tearmainn provide one to one and group supports to children who are experiencing domestic violence and abuse. Providing children who have experienced trauma and abuse with a safe space is so important and we are thrilled to be able to offer this service to children and young people across County Kildare.
