A Message from the Commodore

Welcome to Rickmansworth Sailing Club and thank you for your continued support .
The Club was founded in 1930 and we are in a very fortunate position of owning our own
lake and because of this we are able to have a five year plan which we can control.
This year we plan to re-introduce the "Trojans " which is a group formed to encourage
children and youngsters to sail and enjoy the Lake.
The "Trojans" have been very successful in the past, so fingers crossed we can have
another successful young group in the near future.
All members are welcome to join in the U3A afternoons. They meet twice a month, on the
second Tuesday and fourth Wednesday afternoons, details are in the Sailing Calendar.
This year, we have introduced an Ambassador to the Duty Team. He or she will be able to
help you find your way round the Club, how to book and use a club boat, where to make
tea and coffee and answer any other questions you may have. This is to relieve the duty
team having to handle these issues and allow them to get on with the race management
side of the day. Remember, they are there to help you, please ask them.
We plan in the Summer to have a "Free sailing" time before the first race begins
at 12 noon. The plan is to encourage members to enjoy the sailing and wildlife for an hour
         before the racing begins.
The Club is also offering sail training with Graham Smith, the details can be found on the
website and in the sailing programme. If you do not have your own boat we have club
boats that can be hired for a very reasonable price.
Can I please remind you that at the AGM last November, it was agreed that the Bye-Laws
would make it a requirement for any member going afloat in any kind of sail or powerboat,
to wear an adequate Personal Flotation Device (PFD). This has also been incorporated in
         the Sailing Instructions.
The Members Handbook should provide you with the information about the Club. If you
would like to discuss anything or have any questions, please feel free to ask me or any of
my fellow Committee Members. We are here to help.
Wishing you all a good year on Troy Lake.
