'Likely Lads' arrived on Friday 3 of October, to work on the boatshed
THREE extension.
The three Paddies, Peter Tobin, Mick Grace and Liam Dowling took turns
up the ladder in the drizzling rain to fix shiplap wood to the end gable of
the boat shed.
Gang Leader Tobin, who instigated the work found comradeship in Mick
who has extensive experience in the construction world.
Interestingly he also has a long history in promoting outward bound
activities with young people.
Then like an angel from heaven, Jane appeared with baby Anthony.
The young lad was not happy to be outside!! And he let us know it!!.
Irish humour failed to subdue him. Jane proved very 'excited' in
seeing three handsome young men. Normally she is on her own
cleaning the club house.
With a big grin she asked what were we up to! Gang Leader Tobin
tried to teach her to cut a piece of wood in exchange for holding
wee Anthony. Peter was unaware that he was weeing! (Anthony, not
Peter)
Alas the little fellow declined the invitation. A big grin came to Liam's face when Jane said she
had never been inside the boat shed! (another story).
Having started at
9am, the navies
agreed it was time
for lunch. Gang
Leader Tobin
suddenly turned into
Michelin 5 *****
Star Master Chef
Tobin. egg, bacon,
beans, sausages and
tomatoes flew onto the plates. Within minutes it was gone. Mick
said “we would make a great demolition team!!”
