Pocket Guide to Knots & Splices
1 Place the spike on top of the line.
2 Make a turn with your left hand round the
spike.
3 Bring the tip of the spike back slightly and
pick up the line where it goes away.
4 Slide the point of the spike through to
catch the far side of the small loop.
5 The hitch is now finished and you will find
that you can pull hard in one direction
without it slipping. Close up.
6 Finished knot in action.
