1 Tie three strands of line to the pole with a
constrictor knot (see page 107).
2 With the left-hand strand make a half
hitch to the right.
3 Take the next strand and hitch to the
right.
4 Take the last strand and hitch to the right.
5 The first strand is again hitched to the
right and the cycle continues.
6 The finished length of St. Mary’s hitching.
