1 Tie three strands of line to the pole using
Pocket Guide to Knots & Splices
a constrictor knot (see page 107).

2 Hitch the middle strand to the right.
3 Hitch the right-hand strand to the left,
then the left-hand strand to the right.
4 Hitch what was the first strand and is

now furthest away from the end. As this
strand stuck out to the right, hitch to left
5 Hitch the furthest back strand in the

opposite direction to which it stuck out.
6 Continue until the required amount of ring
bolt hitching is completed.
