6. REWARD AND RECOGNITION
Reward and recognition is important as it can help the participants feel valued by the MDS staff, their peers and their family members/carers. Participants respond well to appreciation expressed through recognition of their good work because it is an affirmation of their progress and growth. This will in-turn increase participant satisfaction levels and will continue to motivate them to develop and grow further.
21. ESTABLISH A FRIENDSHIP AWARD
Include a ‘friendship award’ in the service participants awards to encourage participants to make friends and be continue to socialise and build strong bonds with each other.
22. DEVELOP ONGOING RECOGNITION PLAN
Reward and recognition participants within their different streams on an ongoing basis. This will provide encouragement among their peers and be an added incentive to continue their journey of growth.
23. ACTIVELY SHARE INDIVIDUAL SUCCESSES
MDS needs to celebrate achievements and small wins. Sharing and celebrating success stories of their participants within various departments, events, social outings and forums can be a powerful tool to keep participants motivated and encourage other participants to take on more initiatives and share their stories as well.
