The benefit of a Digital Ideas Register is that it also in part includes some of the typical idea to execution processes. The Scope, Define, Ideate stages are executed, however leaving the Prototype, Test and Execute phases to be deployed.
One set back is that it does not clearly entrench the Empathise phase (see Design Thinking later), an understanding of what the customer, needs wants and
values. This would need to be included as part of the ‘idea campaign’ to seek to understands the challenges first hand.

Execution Process
Deriving tangible commercial value from innovation requires an investment in the development of a robust ideas to execution process. The ideas to execution process is a systematic set of processes that starts with an idea and ends with a new business venture that has been market-validated through a series of experiments and tests.
Only ideas that pass the initial tests set by the filter and then ‘survive’ the robust set of business model tests in the incubation period warrant investment in the acceleration phase. This innovation process is designed to de-risk the investment in new ideas. Early investments of time and resources in the generation and incubation phases are lean, contained, and designed to test all the hypotheses that underpin a new, untested concept.
