 Aidlink Financial Statements 2023
DIRECTORS’ REPORT
For the financial year ended 31 December 2023
Aidlink is particularly grateful to the Bank of Ireland Staff Charitable Fund’s ‘Flagship Project’ for support of the Let Girls Learn Project, €150,000 received in 2023, and the ASTI for a grant of €45,000 for the “WASH a vehicle for better Education” programme in Uganda.
While we acknowledge these achievements, significant challenges remain as we continue to navigate the impact of climate change. In Kenya, after more than a decade of drought, the rains finally came in October 2023, resulting in catastrophic flooding. This led to the deaths of more
than 200 people and the displacement of more than 500,000 households. More than 17,000 acres of farmland were destroyed, and the floods also led to more than 13,400 livestock deaths. Unfortunately, widespread flooding has continued into 2024.
Aidlink will continue to work with communities in hardest to reach areas of Kenya and Uganda to tackle negative social norms and support children and families to fully participate in society.
