CHRISTOPHER LAIRD

Edinburgh born Christopher began working in a salon in his hometown aged thirteen,
qualifying three years later. Choosing a career path wasn’t so straightforward though a
talented musical theatre performer, Christopher had to decide between his two main passions.
Fuelled by the opportunities that the industry held, hairdressing won, and Christopher landed
his first full-time salon job.

Despite having a natural flair for creating beautiful, wearable hair, Christopher felt
discouraged by his employer. ‘I was told that my style of hairdressing wasn’t desirable and
that I was unlikely to succeed in the industry unless my work was edgier.’ Determined to
prove his doubters wrong, he started to use social media to build his clientele – making him
one of the first stylists to use the platform in this way.
