The 2024 United Airshow Grunts Awards

O n the evening of December 10, the

very irreverent United Airshow
Grunts (UAG), held their annual
meeting at the ICAS Convention. In ad-
dition to swapping stories of how they
get no respect from their performers
(boo!), the Grunts presented their an-
nual awards to two deserving members.
Laurie Carlton of Vertigo Airshows
received the Rodney Dangerfield Award
as the Grunt who gets no respect from
her performer (boo!). Laurie said her
performer (boo!) keeps her so busy she
doesn’t have time to buy new shoes. Af-
ter walking so many miles for him, she
has worn holes in the bottom of her old
shoes.
Hannah DeLozier, a grunt for air-
show announcer Luke Carrico, was
named the 2024 Grunt of the Year. She
won the award for finally getting her
performer (boo!) to propose after dat-
