Short’nin’ Bread Surface: Lap desk available from Viking Woodcrafts, 800-328-0116.
Preparation: Dry brush the lap desk with Shale Green. Sand edges. Line the plaid at the top of the lap desk with French Mauve. Line one half inch lines vertical and horizontal. Then line
those lines with wavy white lines.
Supplies: Medium grit sand paper. Deco Art matte sealer finisher spray.
Trace the design on to the surface. Now...it is time to start painting !
Face hands and feet. Base with Toffee. Shade with Trad. Burnt Umber. Highlight with White. Line the stripes on her legs with Rookwood Red. Base her cheeks with Burnt Sienna. Line her eyes, nose, mouth, hair and stitching with Trad. Burnt Umber.
Wings (Bow): Base with Khaki Tan. Dry brush with White. Shade with Trad. Burnt Umber. Dry brush with a little Gooseberry Pink mixed with White.
Apron: Base with White. Float shade with Khaki Tan. Dry brush a little here and there with Gooseberry pink mixed with White. Line the stripes on the pockets with Khaki Tan. Line the plaid pocket with Khaki Tan. Line the checks on the middle pocket with Terra Cotta. Line the stitching on the other pocket with Trad. Burnt Umber. Dry brush pockets here and there with Gooseberry Pink mixed with White. Base the wooden spoons with Espresso. Base the milk with White. Shade the milk with Trad. Burnt Umber. Line the MILK with Trad. Burnt Umber. Base the bowl with Uniform Blue. Dry brush the bowl with White. Base the egg with Toffee. Base the cookie mix in the bowl with Toffee. Dry brush over the cookie mix a little with Trad. Burnt Umber. Base the recipe book with White. Line the plaid with Rookwood Red. Line the RECIPES with Black. Line the string out of the book with Trad. Burnt Umber. Line the heart on the string with Rookwood Red. Base the flour sack with White. Shade with Khaki Tan. Line the checks on the bag with Uniform Blue. Line the FLOUR with Trad. Burnt Umber. Line the sack with Black and line the bow on the sack with Trad. Burnt Umber. Base the recipe paper with White. Float shade with Khaki Tan. Line the recipe with Black micron pen.
Dress: Base with French Mauve. Base the flowers with Mauve. Dry brush the centers of the flowers with White. Line the x’s in the centers with Black.
Short’nin’ bread in her hands: Base the plate with Slate Grey. Base the baking dish with Uniform Blue. Line the stripe and the hearts on the dish with Slate Grey. Base the bread with Trad. Raw Sienna. Dab the bread with Trad. Raw Sienna mixed with a little White. Dot the holes in the bread with Trad. Burnt Umber and line the steam with a black line.
Finishing touches: Spray the desk with Deco Art matte finisher spray.
