French sennit (seven-stranded): the same principle applies as for the
narrower four-stranded French sennit, of weaving under one, over one,
from the outside to the centre.
Secure the seven strands at the top and divide with three to one side and
four to the other. Starting with the even side, take the outside strand and
weave it under one, over one, under one so that it now becomes the
central strand. Next take the outside strand from the other side (originally
with the odd number of strands) and work that under, over, under, to
arrive at the centre. Repeat this process, alternating from side to side, until
the required length of plait is achieved.
