Figure of eight in a double end: this variation of the figure of eight knot
provides a stopper knot with a loop, and is a better knot to use than a
bowline when tying a very slippery synthetic fibre.
Form the knot by making a large bight in the end of the rope, which is
then used to tie the figure of eight (see page 80); figure 63.1 shows the
forming of the knot and figure 63.2 the completed knot.
