results, but the dollars spent is so minor in regards to the numbers, it’s a no-brainer.
I’ve mentioned Facebook with huge success.

Direct mail is something I’d never give up. Sure it’s expensive. But when you have the
opportunity to put a piece of paper on
                someone’s kitchen counter… why wouldn’t
you?! Each spring we mail a yellow
postcard to every person that rented a
pontoon in the previous 5 years. You know
what happens, our phones ring off the hook
for the next two weeks. More fun are the
people that come back and say, “hey, thanks
for the Christmas card” because, yes… we
send every pontoon customer a Christmas
                card.

These are our most fun examples of
marketing, now the craziest story of them all.
I generated $8,000 in business buying
                tooth whitener.

Here’s the story. I was standing at Walgreens looking at tooth whitener. My phone “bonked”.
I received a private message from Facebook. The guy asked me to text him information about
our In/Out Service. It was an odd request to jump platforms… but I texted him. He was buying
an inboard (so yes… he saw my ad). He wondered about the tower. About a week earlier I had
the forklift guys shoot film for me showing the reason a tower has to come down. The reason
is, the tower “up” won’t fit in the rack. Anyway, it’s listed as “guidelines for storing an
inboard” on our website. So I texted back, here’s the link to answer your questions about the
tower… about one minute later he texted “yes! With beer mugs”. I sold an $8,000 In/Out
Space standing in Walgreens. Think about the technological revolution of that transaction. It
would NOT have been possible 3 years ago. It started on Facebook, jumped to messenger, went
to text, linked to a YouTube video on our website. And ended with emojis.

You need to communicate in the year of your
                customer.

                Video is critical.

I rely on Infusionsoft. It’s not perfect, but it’s
pretty darn close. Infusionsoft is a customer
relationship management program. The reason I
started it was because our Boat Club was generating
leads at the time of year I could not follow up with
them quickly. I set up a funnel to respond to
customer inquiries. I incorporated my version of a
