             SEEDS TO HARVEST AND BEYOND
In 2016, Scioto Ridge launched the Seeds to Harvest ministry plan.
We asked the question, “How is the Holy Spirit guiding us to Seek,
Nurture, and Transform in the next two years?” We were all invited to
increase our financial giving to make much needed facility renovations,
pay off a large portion of debt, grow each individual ministry, and
create opportunities for future ministries. We believe giving is a part of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus.
As Seeds to Harvest came to an end, we began evaluating, brainstorming, and praying about the next two years. Pastor Jason led the Leadership Board, staff, and congregation through a series of reflection exercises – how did Seeds to Harvest succeed? Where did we fall short? What do we need to do differently? Where might God be leading us in the next two years? As we reflected and discussed, the Serving As One ministry plan was born.
SERVING AS ONE MINISTRY PLAN 2019-2020
A Christian is a disciple – one who is with Jesus to learn from Jesus how to be like Jesus. We learn how to live like Jesus from Scripture; practicing spiritual rhythms like prayer, study, and worship; and by gathering together regularly. What we learn from Jesus is that living life in God’s Kingdom means living and giving generously.
The focus for 2019-2020 is to fulfill our mission to Seek, Nurture, and Transform by Serving As One through generous living and giving. This is about discipleship— surrendering more of ourselves to God and seeing more of God’s Kingdom that is here now and will one day come.
Here is what you will find in the following pages:
• A summary of how each of our ministries fulfill the mission of Scioto Ridge.
• A brief list of ways to serve and connect in each ministry area.
• Specific growth goals for each area of ministry for the next two years.
• Stories of impact from people who have felt the transformative power of God through the ministries of Scioto Ridge.
• The staff contact for each ministry.
We invite you to read through these pages to catch a glimpse of what God is doing through the ministries of Scioto Ridge. As you read, ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes, ears, heart, and mind as you explore what a life of living and giving generously might look like.
SHAPE AT SCIOTO RIDGE
Jesus said that we are most like him when we serve like him (Matthew 25:32-40; John 13:12-17). Serving at Scioto Ridge can be as simple as seeing a need and filling that need. However, we understand that sometimes recognizing your own gifts and passions can be difficult. We invite you to participate in SHAPE. God has given each of us a SHAPE for ministry. Our SHAPE—Spiritual Gifts, Heart’s passion, Abilities, Personality, and Experiences—gives us a unique way to see our primary ways to serve internally and missionally. The SHAPE assessment can be taken at www.srumc.org/shape. Then, email Pastor Todd Richards at pastortodd@srumc.org to schedule a one-on-one visit to dig into your results.
