   Carlos
by Henry Stevenson, Australia
Carlos first came to see us in October 2017 as a 12-year- old with quite an advanced tumour in the peroneal area (6cm diameter).
This growth had been diagnosed via a fine needle aspirate as an apocrine gland neoplasia. These can at times be quite aggressive adenocarcinomas that can spread into lymph nodes. In this case the sub lumbar nodes were markedly enlarged (30mm diameter) on an ultrasound examination, and a 26mm nodule was also found in the liver.
This is a situation that we often find ourselves in at our surgery, where there is really nothing that can be offered conventionally except some laxatives and pain relief. Usually we can do a lot of good with this type of growth, with stabilizing and slowing it and at times even shrinking the size of the masses.
The other perhaps more important benefit that we EXPECT in treating cancer cases with homeopathy is a lift in the vital force and energy with an enjoyment for life returning. Withdrawn beings begin to interact again and sleepy beings wake up and look about again looking for that old toy. They are often able to enjoy this last part of their life even if they do not shrink the mass.
At the initial consultation we could find no individualising symptoms and treatment was begun using Ramakrishnan’s alternating remedy system. With this we select one local organ remedy and alternate it with a cancer nosode. Ideally, we give this treatment as a “plussing” potency by putting it into the drinking bowl and using the first remedy for 3 days then the second one for the next 3 days and continuing like that. For Carlos we selected Thuja 200c (anal area) to alternate with Carcinosin 200c (cancer nosode).
Often after starting an animal on homeopathic treatment we will slowly notice new problems or issues appearing. These can be old or new and we will then begin to “follow where we are led”. In this case over the next few months, some anxiety and hesitancy over small things appeared, so we would give an occasional dose of Calc carb 200c. Six months later we changed to Phosphorus 200c in alternation with the Carcinosin 200c, as he was getting some anxiety in thunderstorms.
In December 2018 Carlos was euthanased as he could no longer pass any stool and was now uncomfortable. Up until this time he had been quite active and had retained his dignity.
14 months is a long time for an animal who lives only 12-15 years.
