He is also always hungry (not unusual for this breed) and regardless remains slim. The owner does not overfeed him but he does have a slim build.
I decided to give him Calc-p for 2 reasons:
1. The phosphorus had helped him out of a sticky
situation and seeing the Calc first in line in this repertorisation. (The odour of the ears was very typical in this case: the owner mentioned it every time I saw Teddy.)
2. The second reason is that on the table. Teddy gives the impression of saying: please treat me with more softness (which is a strong theme in Calc-p). That is of course not bizarre in this situation in relation to how the owner treats him but it is a constant theme. It is there and very strongly.
Calc-p in a 12C used daily soon controls the ear issue.
After a month I need to raise the dilution to 200C twice per week, and the issue is not only controlled but has improved beyond how the ears have been ever since he was a pup. The frequency of dosing was further reduced to twice per month and his ears are still better (Feb) than they ever have been and there has never since been any issues of generalised itching, which was catastrophic before the kidney episode.
I made a bit of a pirouette in my remedy selecting technique by opting for Calc-p. This is a risky strategy but in some cases it can be very helpful. I would never have been able to obtain a full homeopathic anamnesis in the typical classical way in this case.
