“If a dog will not come to you after having looked you in the face, you should go home and examine your conscience.” - Woodrow Wilson
Courtenay: Having to struggle against your PTSD is one thing, but when you are physical ailments on top of it, such as almost constant migraines, or an assortment of physical pains or health issues, it is another thing altogether.
In my case, I often have to deal with daily headaches that I wake up with and there is not much that helps me out with the issue other than taking a nap when they get bad...and sometimes that doesn’t even help as the migraine is usually still there when I wake back up. It’s just one more issue that limits my good days when I actually feel well enough to get out of the house.
My Service Dog (in training) Crush has been able to help me with some of that, ‘getting out of the house’ thing, no matter how hard my brain may fight back.
That, with the assistance of medications from the VA, some useful, some not, in addition to Migraine medication from the drugstore, and I can join the land of the living once in a great while and avoid living like the Gollum dragging myself out from the depths of a swamp, with the ‘precious’ golden ring of pharmaceuticals hung heavy on my neck...saying:
“We swears to serve the master of the precious. We will swear on the...on the precious.” - Gollum
