experienced, I ended up starting a company that offers an alternative and non-addictive remedy, known as Warfighter Hemp, which contains CBD made from the hemp plant.
It contains less than .3% of THC, which is the chemical that makes you high. Because the THC level is so low, it is in compliance with the 2014 Farm Bill and therefore can be sold in all 50 States. However, even tough legal, the VA not only will not prescribe it, they will not even conduct research into its efficacy. But there is little doubt that it works, particularly with Post- Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
“One way of thinking about PTSD is an over-activation of the fear system that can’t be inhibited, can’t be normally modulated,” as stated by Dr. Kerry Ressler of Emory University. Basically stated, the brain can’t downshift out of overdrive.
For anyone who may not be familiar, CBD stands for Cannabidiol, and is one of more than 100 cannabinoids found in Cannabis Sativa, the Latin name for Cannibis or Hemp and are the natural chemical constituents of Cannabis and Hemp. CBD is one of the most well-known and well- researched cannabinoids. Another you may have heard of is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
Information on the Warfighter Hemp site can be found at http://www.warfighterhemp.com. On this site you can also read about CBD via the Cannabidiol FAQ page. My mission with Warfighter Hemp is to provide our nation’s Veterans with an organic, non-addictive, non- psychoactive means to manage pain, lower anxiety, and improve the overall quality of their lives. Warfighter Hemp believes that our 23 million Veterans can lead the way in demonstrating that there is a viable alternative to the over prescription of addictive medications and offer a pathway out of the opioid epidemic currently plaguing our Veterans.
