Preamble
Thailand's media and information literacy status for the year 2019, surveyed by the Office of
the National Digital Economy and Society Commission and Ministry of Digital Economy and Society.
By this survey Consists of media and information literacy surveys based on the media and
information literacy assessment framework of the United Nations Educational and Scientific
Organization (UNESCO) and Digital Literacy according to competency framework. Digital literacy of
the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society.
From the survey framework have set indicators for performance assessment of 12 indicators
and have set up a questionnaire for data collection, divided into 2 parts: usage behavior
Information Technology and Digital Technologies such as information, knowledge,
understanding and ability. To evaluate the performance that can show the current status of Thailand
Both at the overall level of the country, region and province level, in order to provide information
for analyzing, formulating policies, guidelines, measures and planning for public development to
become a digital citizen to enable all sectors of Thailand to participate in the digital economy and
society. According to government policy that will drive the economy and society with innovation to
advance into a developed country
Results from the survey of 12,374 Thai people covering 77 provinces nationwide found that
the average score of literacy and information literacy status in Thailand is 68.1 points and the average
score of digital literacy status is 64.5 points with behavior in using digital technology. And exposure
to media and information that reflects various indicators, including the consumption of media and
information through smart devices, as much as 99.4 percent, most people have the most use of the
Internet 3-4 hours a day as much as 25.3 percent.
Paying as much as 85.8 percent and using only the Internet without a service fee. Only 14.1
percent have used the Internet to receive media exposure through various top 3 types of
sourcessocial media, website and digital television which uses media from the Internet channel for
self-development, daily life and professional development. Therefore, the 2019 Thailand Media and
Information Literacy Survey Report will be able to reflect the media and information literacy status,
digital literacy of Thai people to determine the guidelines for the development of Thai people's
potential to drive digital economy and society for Thailand to become a complete digital economy
and society.
