36-2 PARKING BRAKE - PARK BRAKE SYSTEM
ADJUSTMENT
1 . Remove the rear wheel. (Refer to "Chapter 33. Wheel & tire - rear wheel & tire,
replacement")
2 . Check the Installation of the Brake Shoe and Brake Drum (Refer to "Chapter 35.
Brake - rear drum brake, overhaul")
3 . Adjust the brake shoe clearance. (Refer to "Chapter 35. Brake - rear drum brake,
overhaul")
4 . Install the rear wheel.((Refer to "Chapter 33. Wheel & tire - rear wheel & tire,
replacement")
5 . Standard value of park brake lever travel
Conditions Travel
350 N 6-8 teeth
6 . Adjust the park brake lever travel.
(a) Lift up the vehicle.
(b) Remove the auxiliary instrument panel
assembly. (Refer to "Chapter 83.
Dashboard/instruments - auxiliary instrument
panel, replacement")
(c) Pull the park brake lever by one grid.
(d) Rotate the park brake adjustment nuts. The
park brake features slight drag when rotating
rear wheels.
(e) Fully release the park brake lever to confirm
there is not any drag in park braking. Readjust
if necessary.
(f) Ensure the park brake lever works well in the

required travel.
(g) Install the auxiliary instrument panel
assembly. (Refer to "Chapter 83.
