"I am a firm believer that a
person’s life can positively
change from receiving a quality
education. I see my role as one
that helps teachers and schools
achieve a higher quality of
education than previously.
Not only does my current position
at CAS allow me to support and
work with the amazing teachers
here, but also I am able to
implement curricular changes
that both enrich and innovate
student learning.
I started at CAS in 2016 after
completing my Master’s of
Education in International
Rachel Marie Disbrow Educational Development at the
Enrichment Specialist. University of Pennsylvania.
Before that, I had worked for two years in South
Korea as an English teacher before going to Guatemala City in 2013. It
was while working at UPAVIM (a woman’s cooperative with health and
educational programs) as the After School Program Coordinator that I
realized it was not teaching that was my passion, but helping students,
through their teachers and curricula, to receive a high quality
education that not only teaches
them, but inspires and challenges them.
While I always have and will enjoy teaching, I decided to
pursue a Master’s. This degree has allowed me to have larger impact in
the world of education by being able to help the teachers to reach their
own potential, and in turn, give opportunities for the
students to reach their own potential."
