Problem #4: High turnover rate vs post double
Joel must understand how important each possession is, and every time he turns it over, his team does not get an opportunity to score. A lot of his turnovers come from him being careless, making 1 handed passes, forcing the issue...Here are some examples of the plays he must eliminate.
This problem can be fix by explaining to Joel the value of each possession, and how his careless turnovers hurt the team. From there, we would show him film so he can see what plays he needs to avoid. Once the season starts, we can look at his turnovers in the post every 5 games and see which ones were careless. The goal would be for Joel to think about the plays to avoid once he catches it on the block, and for him be more locked in. Once he realizes this is an issue and he is being held accountable for it, he will make progress.
Joel’s turnover rate goes up to 21.3% when he is doubled in the post. There is no doubt he will have to deal with being doubled for the rest of his career. Therefore, this is an important area of improvement. Joel seems to panic at times when the double comes at him, which leads to rushed and bad passes like these.
