In post double situations, Joel must also recognize where the help is coming from. In these clips, he has no idea.
Joel also has to have better awareness once he catches the ball. Most teams won’t let him just go 1 on 1 in the post the whole game. He must survey the floor once he gets the ball and know where people are. He also must be locked in with scouting reports to know each team’s tendencies on where they like to double from and how they’ve guarded him in the past as well as other dominant bigs. What I have found helpful with players in those situations before is to explain to them there is no need to panic. You are the biggest guy on the floor, slow down, retreat dribble if needed, and if two are on you, someone is open.
