Bravo! May Pops Finds Silver Lining in Chef Joe, Resilient Cast
There were many heroes at our 30th May Pops concert after unseasonal rain and wind swept through the VIP reception moments before sponsors and guests arrived. At the head of the rescue effort were Chef Joe Faria and the Quail Valley River Club team.
Quick-thinking on Chef’s part saved May Pops. Calmly directing his brigade through a torrential downpour, he relocated fabulous fare and beverages to the covered safety of an adjacent hall. Volunteers moved tables and chairs indoors, while Quail recreated a sumptuous, seemingly endless buffet. With emcee John Moore helping to direct traffic, guests dodged the raindrops, celebrating despite the inclement weather.
Once the sky cleared and rainbows dotted the horizon, guests moved outdoors to their cabanas. Taking the stage in front of Presenting Sponsor Helen Post and 450 VIP guests, Brevard Symphony Orchestra and our Broadway stars treated the audience to an outstanding show worthy of May Pops’ 30th anniversary.
Special thanks to our May Pops heroes and our many generous sponsors.
