DEEPAWALI WHAT IF…
It is a festival of lights What if we never speak up
For sweets siblings fight, Never raise our voices
Nuclear families come together There are no candles in times of darkness to light
Happy is the weather up
And no weight to our choices.
Even the four walls
Are happy and tall, What if the only things deemed upon are
But now, presumptuous laws;
It has become the festival of firecrackers , how? And show complete disregard to our flaws.
Its main purpose is lost What if the world danced to the tunes of
In firecrackers and frost , unprincipled men;
We should now And conservative hymns playing now and again.
Come together and change the ‘how’
Would it be a place? Would it be a world?
Educate the young With so many inflections of judgemental souls?
How mother earth is dying young, Or would it be a never ending whirl,
Lets make this festival full of joy With people without instilled goals,
Instead of firecrackers and prejudiced leaders wanting everything under
give them a toy their own control ?
