Relationship With Marshawn Lynch Drives Fred Jackson To Seattle Visit
Yes, free-agent running back Fred Jackson is on his way to Seattle for a visit with the Seahawks. Although a league source says that there have been no contract discus- sions yet, both sides are indeed motivated to get something done.
As the source, the primary fac- tor in the mutual interest be- tween the Seahawks and Jackson is the pre-existing relationship between Jack- son and starting tailback Marshawn Lynch, based on their time together with the Bills.
Per the source, having Jack- son in the locker room will provide the private, reclusive

Lynch with another confi- dant, along with the comfort of knowing Jackson has Lynch’s back. Also, unlike Christine Michael and Robert Turbin, Jackson isn’t someone who would be viewed as a potential successor to Lynch.

The 100 Black Men of At- lanta has teamed up with ESPN to promote the Celebration Bowl pitting champions from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Con- ference (MEAC) and the South- western Athletic Conference (SWAC) on December 19, 2015 in Atlanta's Georgia Dome. The inaugural game will kick off at noon ET and will be televised nationally on ABC.
The partnership was officially announced is a press release today and confirms the cancel- lation of the Atlanta Football Classic.
“We are excited about our multi-year relationship with ESPN,” said 100 Black Men of Atlanta Chairman Bill Lamar. “We see a new horizon in the world of HBCU football and look forward to beginning a new tradition with ESPN. Our organization is committed to mentoring and educating our black youth and this bowl game gives us yet another opportu- nity to innovate in the arena of HBCU sports while supporting our community.”
As it did with the Atlanta Football Classic for almost three decades, the 100 will manage the game’s ancillary events, which will include a Youth Symposium, Robotics Showcase, College Fair, Job Fair and Fan Experience.
Andre Berto prepares for the fight of his life against Floyd May- weather.
Teammate Speaks On Kam Chancellor's Holdout
At the end of July, Seahawks linebacker Bruce Irvin Tweeted "Get yo money Bam Bam!" in support of teammate Kam Chancellor's holdout. With the start of the regular season approaching and with Chancellor still absent from Seattle's secondary, Irvin's re- solve is starting to fade.
He told 710 ESPN Seattle's "Brock and Salk" on Tuesday that his take on the situation has changed "a little bit, I ain't gonna lie. We need Kam. We need Kam, but Kam deserves his money. I'm not being bi- ased, but he's the best strong safety in this game. He's a dif- ference maker, he sets the tone not only for our defense but our team.
"Whatever his situation is, I hope it gets handled. But just know, we need him."
The Seahawks' Sept. 13

opener at St. Louis is less than two weeks away, which means it appears more and more likely each day that Chancellor will miss at least Seattle's first game. When asked whether he thinks it would be "selfish" of Chancellor to continue his holdout into the regular sea- son, Irvin wouldn't take the bait.

Mayweather’s ‘LAST’ Opponent Focuses Amid The Hoopla
Andre Berto said Tuesday he is blocking out the hype for his welterweight world title bout against Floyd May- weather and believes the pound-for-pound king is no longer the fighter he was.
He may have lost three of his last six fights and be a massive underdog but Berto, 31, a two- time former champion, says he is in the best shape of his life, as he attempts to become the first man to beat May- weather.
Mayweather says he in- tends to hang up his gloves after the September 12 show- down in Las Vegas and he infu- riated boxing fans in handpicking Berto when there were more than half a dozen more attractive -- but more dangerous -- fighters in the field.
Mayweather will match the 49-0 record of legend Rocky Marciano if -- as expected -- he defeats Berto.
But Berto (30-3, 23 KOs) is laughing off all the flak, talk of records and his opponent's propensity for showing off his staggering wealth to the world on social media and on televi- sion.
"I don't get caught up in all
that. I don't get caught up in all the hoopla and all the crazy s...t," Berto told reporters in a conference call. "I don't want to get caught up and caught off guard... I'm on a mission."
Berto says he has the speed, power and hunger to spring a major surprise at the MGM Grand and believes May- weather (48-0, 26 KOs) is starting to feel the heat at age 38.
Experts say Mayweather, a master of defense, has become slightly easier to hit in recent fights -- though he still had more than enough to put Manny Pacquiao to the sword in his last bout.
Berto agrees he sees some chinks in Mayweather's armor.
"He's definitely showing some slippage throughout the years. I thought the last couple of fights.
"But he's one of those guys who doesn't abuse his body and he's always respected the sport. "If you respect the sport, the sport is going to respect you."
He added: "But you can be as sharp as you want, but it only takes one slip moment for somebody to capitalize on it."
In Choosing Tyrod Taylor, Rex Ryan Is Again Being Rex
Rex Ryan is rolling the dice again.
In naming Tyrod Taylor the Buffalo Bills' starting quar- terback Monday, Ryan is doing exactly what he’s be- come known to expect from him: Bucking NFL norms and putting his own mark on his team -- for better or for worse. Ryan is making the riskier de- cision.
Going with Matt Cassel would have been the safe move for the Bills. Cassel went 13- for-15 passing in the presea- son, averaging 5.5 yards per attempt. His short, controlled passing game would have min- imized mistakes and put the Bills in position for their run- ning game and defense to win games.
But instead of choosing the predictability of Cassel,
TYROD TAYLOR
Ryan has opted to take a gam- ble and give Taylor his first NFL start.
You get the sense that Ryan wants to prove something. As the New York Jets' head coach, Ryan tried to trade for Tay- lor, whom he believes is the fastest quarterback in the NFL.
