Police Issue
1 Killed, 6 Injured In Shooting Outside Downtown Club
Warrant For
Police are investigating a shooting that has left one man dead and 6 other people injured by gunfire. Just be- fore 3 a.m., Tampa Police re- sponded to the report of shots fired near the LIT Cigar & Martini Lounge, 908 N Franklin St.
Officers arrived to find one adult male victim de- ceased on scene from an ap- parent gunshot wound. Six additional gunshot victims, four adult men and two adult women, were transported to nearby hospitals with non- life-threatening injuries.
A preliminary investiga- tion suggests that a verbal al- tercation occurred between two large parties inside the lounge. The parties were es- corted outside, where the al- tercation escalated when at least one suspect went to a vehicle to retrieve a gun and fired multiple shots.

velop leads in the case. No arrests have been made as of yet.
Tampa Police Chief Mary O’Connor said, “This is senseless violence. There’s no reason why anyone should lose their life over a fight at a bar.
“We are working dili- gently to follow up on leads and find those responsible.”

Tampa Police Make Arrest In N. Oregon Ave. Shooting

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a suspect connected to a homicide investigation.
Detectives have issued an arrest warrant for Rashaad Kerney, 21, for second-de- gree murder with a firearm.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, the Sheriff’s Office is con- ducting a homicide investiga- tion in Tampa.
On Friday, October 7, 2022, just before 5 p. m., deputies responded to the 3700 block of Coral Drive to the report of a shooting. When deputies arrived, they discovered a victim who had been shot several times.

The Tampa Police Depart- ment has arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting that involved a homeless fam- ily on October 5, 2022. Shots were fired into the vehicle in which a homeless family of five was sleeping early in the morning.
Through investigative means, detectives identified 21-year-old Christopher Stamat, Jr., as the owner of the black 2-door, 300 series 2012 BMW seen on multiple surveillance videos canvass- ing the area of N. Oregon Ave., in the early morning hours of October 5. The fol- lowing day, Stamat’s vehicle was located in the garage of a home on the 3200 block of Marcellus Circle, in Tampa.
After speaking with Sta- mat, he admitted that he is the only person who has recently driven his vehicle, and that he was driving in the area of N. Oregon Ave., the

morning of the shooting. Detectives obtained search warrants for both Stamat’s
vehicle and residence. Detectives located an
empty gun box for a 9mm handgun in the vehicle and spent shell casings matching the casings found at the crime scene inside Stamat’s apart- ment. He was taken into cus- tody.
Tampa Police Chief Mary O’Connor said, “Our
community as a whole can sleep easier tonight knowing the suspect linked to this monstrous, random act of vio- lence is no longer free to prey on innocent people.
“I cannot thank or com- mend our detectives enough for working so quickly to identify and arrest this sus- pect.”
Upon arrest, Stamat did not provide a motive for the shooting, but did state that he felt people were stalk- ing and following him in dif- ferent vehicles, on bikes and walking. There is still no indi- cation that the victims knew or have any connection to Stamat.
Stamat is facing six felony charges including four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one count of second-degree at- tempted murder and one count of shooting into a vehi- cle.
