MR. TONY LEONARD GREEN
Mr. Tony Leonard Green of 1510 East North Bay, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2015.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 2, 2015, at Mount Tabor M. B. Church, 2606 West Grace Street, at 2 p. m., with the Reverend T. D. Leonard, pas- tor, officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Me- morial Park Cemetery.
Tony was born March 9, 1992. Tony attended Edison Elementary, Middleton Jr. High and Wharton High School. He was a native of Florida and a resident of Tampa for 23 years. He was a member of Mt. Tabor Mis- sionary Baptist Church.
As a youth, Tony was known for his lighthearted and gregarious nature as well as for his gift of persua- sion. He shared many mem- orable days with his brothers and cousins playing football and video games.
Tony benefited from being raised not only by his par- ents, Jackie and Anthony, but also by his beloved, Aun- tie Mom Miarita.
During this time of his life, the special relationships that he formed with his cousins Johnny, Michael, Eric, Ron- nie and Terry, Kenneth, Karieem and Nathan gave rise to a new term, “Cousin- Brother.”
Through Auntie Mom Mi- arita’s guidance, the cousin- brothers were often found at church on Sunday mornings. It was during this time, as a youth, that he too was per- suaded through Pastor T. D. Leonard as he heard the Word of God beckoning him to give his life to Christ and accept the gift of salvation. He joined Mt. Tabor at 8 years old and was baptized on December 26, 2007.
As a youth at Mt. Tabor, Tony utilized his gift of singing as he participated in the Youth Choir, along with his brothers and cousins. Under the supervision of Sis- ters Katina and Latrona Davis, he often led the Youth Choir with his Melodious Tenor voice, singing among other songs, “I Won’t Let Go.”
Pastor Leonard lovingly labeled them as “The Green Boys” as they sang praises unto God and ministered to the saints on Youth Sunday. In his later teens, he went on
to stay with his big sister, Stephanie who continued to assist her parents in raising Tony.
Although he’s gone too soon from us in tragedy, his triumph over death lies in the cross of our risen Savior.
Through his demise, three people have been given the gift of life through organ do- nation. Tony now resides in the presence of the Lord, along with a host of relatives who preceded him in death: grandfathers, Leroy Green, Sr., and Hardy Mungin; grandmothers, Mary Jean Flowers and Lily Bell Tucker; uncle, Leroy Green, Jr.; aunts, Bernice Mungin, Phyl- lis Pratt and Renee Davis; and niece, Keyona Sims.
